Voter Suppression: My Voice Deserves To Be Heard
I've been paying lots of attention to the 2012 presidential election...some would call me a "politics enthusiast". I have always been very fascinated with the political environment here in the U.S. as well as other countries. I am disappointed when I read some of the vilifying and abrasive comments on articles and blog posts about both parties and candidates. There has GOT to be a way for us to have meaningful conversation about the issues we are passionate about.
I definitely have my own opinions about the candidates and issues that face our nation but one issue stuck out to me -- Voter Suppression. So, I took to my easel to hopefully begin a meaningful and civil conversation about Voter Suppression through representing the stories of some those are affected by it. Making of Red Hook Summer Sneaker: Son of Mookie
Spike Lee has inspired me since I was very young. In high school, I even created a film project for a class based on one of his movies. He has just released his feature film, Red Hook Summer depicting the time a young boy spends living with his grandfather in the Red Hook Projects in Brooklyn.
It is well known that Mr. Lee is a “sneaker-head” and has a special affinity and relationship with the Jordan brand. He tapped me to create some custom sneakers to celebrate his new film. Check out how I created these new sneakers in the film below.
Ice Age 4 Celebrity Sneakers
Its been an amazing week! Monday, I had the opportunity to view an an early screening of Ice Age 4 in New York City. Some of the cast members from Ice Age were there: Keke Palmer, Queen Latifah, Aziz Ansari, John Leguizamo and Ray Romano. The movie was great! Make sure you take your friends and family to see it!
On Wednesday, Queen Latifah appeared on The View and dropped off a pair of my Ice Age kicks to Joy Behar who is also in the movie!
And today, Nicki Minaj received her pair right before she goes on Jay Leno. She tweeted a pic from her dressing room.
