My love for planes was chased by the dreams of literally soaring above the clouds. These passions led me to the United States Air Force. Although Jim Crow laws prevented equality, my dedication and courage were no different from any other man enlisted. During the early 1940’s is when my unit took flight, Red Tails was the … →

I’ve been paying lots of attention to the 2012 presidential election…some would call me a “politics enthusiast”. I have always been very fascinated with the political environment here in the U.S. as well as other countries. I am disappointed when I read some of the vilifying and abrasive comments on articles and blog posts about both parties and candidates. There has GOT to be a way for us to have meaningful conversation about the issues we are passionate about.
Spike Lee has inspired me since I was very young. In high school, I even created a film project for a class based on one of his movies. He has just released his feature film, Red Hook Summer depicting the time a young boy spends living with his grandfather in the Red Hook Projects in Brooklyn. It is well known that Mr. Lee is a “sneaker-head” and has a special affinity and relationship with the Jordan brand. He tapped me … →

The No Weapon Formed Against Me Shall Prosper series began as a vision of my imagination during the fall of 2007 while sitting at my cubical. Now some three years later I have unlocked the vault and began painting those very same images. Combining Biblical scripture, football, and art I bring you the ” No weapon formed against me shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:17) series.
This weekend I was at the Cleveland Museum of Art Chalk Festival. This event encourages the community to come out and find their own inner artist using some of the walkways around the museum as canvas. It’s a really fun event that attracts many families and artists of all ages. I was among several featured artists at the event due to my involvement with the mural that I am working on for the Fairfax neighborhood. I was a little anxious about the event … →

I was recommended by a friend for a public arts project for the Cleveland Museum of Art. As I was meeting with the coordinator, I did not get the feeling that she was impressed by the work that I shared with her. So, we began looking at work that I have done on sneakers and about the speaking engagements/workshops that I have done. The coordinator’s toddler granddaughter happened to come into the room while we were meeting. The coordinator introduced … →
